S COLORADO WESTMORELAND INC. I~IIIIIII~IIIIIIIII
P.O. Box 1299 Paonia, Colorado 81428 O 303-527-4135
July 29, 1987
Mr. Thomas A. Schreiner, Reclamation Specialist ~~ Q°n ~° ~ ~ ~~
Colorado Mined Land Reclamation bivision 1~ ko
423 Centennial Building 1987
1313 Sherman Street JUL `~ 1
Denver, Colorado 80203
MINtD LAND
AE: 1987 SEMI-ANNUAL SUBSIDENCE REPORT DECLAMATION DIVISION
Dear Tom;
Enclosed are the results of Colorado Westmoreland Inc .'s CWI) 1987 semi-annual
subsidence survey performed during June, 1987.
Both the wide spaced grids and high resolution grids indicated no movement had
occurred from the last 1986 monitor survey through the June, 1987 survey. This
displays evidence of subsidence movement overlying 11 North and 12 North panels
has virtually ceased. Monitoring of the recently installed wide spaced grid
points 90, 92, and 93 also indicates no movement has occurred from advance min-
ing within the Orchard Valley West Mine.
Advancement of the First West Sub-Mains and South III Sub-Mains has been com-
pleted. The South III Sub-Mains were extended to the proposed location of in-
tersection with the First West Mains upon which poor roof conditions were en-
countered. Two roof falls occurred within this area and consequently changes in
the mine plan were required. As a result, the Second West Sub-Mains have been
developed at approximately Crosscut iP15 of the South Sub-Mains.
Advancement mining only is projected for the remaining part of 1987. The Second
West Sub-Mains and relocated First West Mains will be partially developed during
1987. CWI anticipates no subsidence induced movements related to mining activi-
ties during the year of 1987. The analysis of subsidence movement, if any, will
be included in CWI's 1987 Annual Hydrology and Subsidence Report.
If you desire any further information, please contact Kathy Welt or me.
Sincerely, ~ Q~~
"Jim Miller
Mine Engineer
~RO VE D
4l r~..s2, ~ 'v,P
Ronald W.
