iii iiiiiiiiniu iii
RECEIVED
JUN 161997
June 12, 1997
Dwi~ion of Minamlc x GgolgOY
Mr. Jim Dillie
Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver. Colorado 80203
Re: Battle Mountain Resources, Inc. - San Luis Project
DMG Permit No. M-88-112
Detection of cyanide in RS-1 Sample on April O1, 1997 and RS-
2 sample on April 02, 1997.
Dear Mr. Dillie: ~'O
As stated in your recent letter, cyanide was reported in the ciuarterly
samples collected on April O1, 1997 from the RS-1 surface station and
the RS-2 surface station on April 02, 1997. Results showed levels of
0.061 ppm total cyanide from RS-1 and 0.020 ppm total cyanide from RS-2.
This letter is to assure you that we will continue to follow t:he surface
and groundwater collection protocol as outlined in TR-06. We ktave added
some additional items to our sampling protocol to help insure no
contamination occurs during our collection of samples. We will. only rise
new sample bottles to collect cyanide samples. Sangre De Cristo Labs has
agreed to furnish only new bottles for these samples. Process Point
samples, surface and groundwater samples will not be collected on the
same day. Separate pH probes, beakers and other sample collection
equipment will be used for process point samples to minimize the
opportunity for contamination. Finally, we do not ship surface or
groundwater samples with process point samples, they are sent to the lab
separately.
Sincerely,
~~
Ron Zumwalt
cc: Anne Baldrige
Dan Robertson
