NORTHWEST COLORADO CONSULTANTS, INC.
Project: Waste Coal Pile Project No.: 95-2296
Location: Foidel Creek Mine Report No.: 22
Client: Bower Brothers Construction
Work Pertorrned:
Date: 6/25/97
Time: 3.5
Mileage: 40
Engr.lTech: JK
As requested, we visited the project site on this date to conduct nuclear density test No.'s 91 through 95 on the
material previously placed.
Bower Brothers Construction crews placed and compacted processed waste coal on area #1 and on the east
bench of area #2 of the waste coal pile. We obtained 5 samples of material from test sites for moisture content
and Checkpoint Proctor determination. All Checkpoints matched Proctor No. 2 from this project.
Remarks:
The material tested generally met project specifications with compaction ranging from 92% to 100+% and moisture
contents ranging from 3.9% below to 0.3% above optimum. We observed that materials placed in the areas tested
appeared to be consistent in regards to compaction and moisture content.
Please refer to the attached sheet for results of today's testing.
Verbal Discussions:
Bud Bower of Bower Brothers Construction was notified of today's test results. He advised us that they had not
reworked or recompacted the failing areas in the vicinity of test #84 which was taken on 8/5/96. Due to heavy
snows and rains the contractor was not able to access this portion of the pile.
