A small population of Tamarix was also discovered north of the road crossing in Section 25. Control
efforts began immediately. As of this spring it appears that much of the effort was successful, but some
recovery of the Tamarix is evident, as expected. Control efforts will continue during 2007 and subsequent years
as needed until eradication is achieved. Adjacent and especially downstream areas axe also being monitored to
watch fox expansion of the initial infestation. If found elsewhere, control will be implemented there as well. To
date, no expansion beyond the initial infestation has been seen. The presence of this species is considered to be
the most serious threat to the riparian vegetation; far more so than the leafy spurge that has become well
established throughout the area and even in the uplands. Full eradication of the Tamarix is considered essential.
Wotk Anticipated in 2007/200: Upon approval of the special use permit, all current operations, except fox
the processing plant, will be concluded and mining will proceed in the new lease area. Otherwise, sand will
continue to be extracted in the older permit areas and within the bonded boundary.
Bonding: This operation is covered under a self bonding arrangement.
Schmidt Construction 2007 Annual Report M-1988-044 Coal Creek Resources Page 2 of 2
