In general, the report was very well organized, clear and
concise. The following questions/concerns should, however be
addressed.
Calculated Values for Parameters
i) Page 2: The discussion on how pressure readings (in psi)
are converted to obtain hydraulic head (in feet) neglects
to explain the significance of the multiplier 2.31.
Please clarify.
2) Page 17: The third paragraph references a method for
converting sulfide values to hydrogen sulfide values in
terms of un-ionized sulfide. Please provide a copy of
the page referenced (p. 477, "Standard Methods for the
Evaluation of Water and Wastewater", APHA, 1985) or
summarize the method referenced, explaining the
significance of the multiplier, 1.06.
Groundwater puality
3) Table 12 shows that four parameters have exceeded CDOH
Agricultural Standards at various locations.
Specifically, manganese exceeded the standard in a total
of 19 samples in 11 wells; iron exceeded the standard in
four samples from three different wells; fluoride
exceeded the standard in five samples from four different
wells, and pH exceeded the standard in one sample.
Manganese exceedences were observed primarily in alluvial
wells and spoils wells. A review of baseline data for
the alluvial aquifer revealed that baseline
