_ ~ ,. <br />~~ <br />ANNUAL REPORT <br />April 27, 1999 <br />COLONA GRAVEL PIT <br />M-94-005 <br />Following is a description of the current status of the Colona Gravel Pit in Montrose <br />County, as well as an explanation of activities conducted during the report year. Please <br />refer to the enclosed map. <br />The area in the north-east section of Phase f is still being utilized as a process area in <br />which a portable asphalt plant located This plant was situated at the site intermittently <br />during the report year. The office is still located in this section also. <br />Notes: <br />*1. The earth berms that serve as topsoil storage and buffers were seeded in April 1999. <br />The berm along the northern boundary was seeded in 1996, but success was minimal so <br />the berm was also seeded in April 1999. <br />*2. The west side and most of the north side of the affected area has been filled, graded <br />and seeded. The seeding was done in early 1996. A substantial amount of grass has <br />established on these sloped banks. <br />*3. Approximately 7 acres were mined during the report year. (See map) <br />*4. It is anticipated that operations will advance into Phase II during the coming year. <br />The excavation that has occurred to this date has been conducted to a depth of 20 to 22 <br />feet. <br />
