Flow values from the OD4 Pond have
been affected by the reduced diameter of the discharge culvert modified
on May 29, 1987 (36 inches to 6 inches).
Review of the TDS plot indicates that TDS values have consistently
increased since 1982, primarily due to a concurrent increase in
upgradient mined area and ground water resaturation in the spoils.
However, some stabilizing of TDS values appears to be occurring in the
last five years.
- Surface Water Site SW-S2-10 (SSC10). This site monitors Cow Camp
Creek at its confluence with Fish Creek. It is monitored May through
September on a monthly basis. This year, no flow was observed at this
site, although NPDES 004 upstream was flowing continuously. This
reduction in flow is due to stream channel infiltration,
evapotranspiration, and the absence of lateral inflow from tributaries
to Cow Camp Creek. The TDS plot reveals an increasing trend.
NPDES Discharge Point 008 (NPDES8). The annual average flow values
for the water year since this pond began to flow are:
2002 = 0.083 cfs (monthly measurements)
2001 = 0.189 cfs ^
2000 = 0.299 cfs "
1999 = 0.246 cfs (monthly measurements winter,
. weekly rest of year)
1998 = 0.473 cfs "
13
