volume. <br />The two sites on Trout Creek indicated the impacts of irrigation on the stream flow. Due <br />to irrigation withdrawals in 1993, the stream flows at Station 69 were lower than at <br />Station 301 during the irrigation season. The Flow data for Trout Creek are presented <br />on Figures 31 and 32. <br />Water Quality <br />Water quality samples are collected at all the primary sites on a regular basis. The water <br />quality summaries for Foidel Creek are presented on Tables 31 to 34. The water quality <br />summaries for Fish creek are presented on Tables 35 and 43. The water quality <br />summaries for Trout Creek aze presented on Tables 44 to 47. Plots of historic field <br />conductivity for Foidel Creek are presented on Figures 34 and 35. The plot of historical <br />field conductivity and iron for Fish Creek near the tipple is presented on Figures 36 and <br />37. The plot of historical field conductivity and iron for Fish Creek near the Fish Creek <br />Borehole is presented on Figure 38 and 48 respectively. The plot of historical field <br />conductivity for Trout Creek is presented on Figure 39. <br />The base level of field conductivity measured during spring runoff, was slightly higher <br />in the downstream site on Foidel Creek. It is approximately 1500 umhoslcm upstream <br />and 1800 downstream. Since 1981 the base level for conductivity at both sites has been <br />increasing although there appears to have been alevelling-off since 1989. During the <br />~• 1992 imgation season, the field conductivity at Station 800 was approximately 3000 <br />umhos/cm, and at Station 8 the field conductivity was approximately 3300 umhos/cm. <br />A difference between the conductivity levels at the two stations was evident before the <br />beginning of underground mining; therefore, it is at least partly due to the effects of <br />surface mining. The discharges related to surface mining are much greater than the <br />underground mining discharges during the spring runoff, therefore, the increase in the <br />spring runoff dissolved solids levels is probably due primarily to the effects of the surface <br />mine. <br />\, Other than increased concentrations of dissolved solids, sodium, sulfate, and SAR in <br />~~x k Foidel Creek no other significant water quality impacts at least partly due to underground <br />mining have been detected. The increase in SAR levels during irrigation season is not <br />~~ ~ sufficient to cause material damage. <br />E~ The dissolved solids concentrations in the upstream station on Fish Creek Station 16 are <br />lower than those in the two downstream stations (1002 and 1003). There is also a slight <br />downstream trend of increasing sodium and sulfate concentrations while calcium, <br />magnesium and bicarbonate concentrations remain fairly consistent.
