The annual fee payments for several of the Department of Transportation's gravel pits were due in
February 2003.
To date, we have not received annual fee payments for the following pits: Greenland Assoc No. 2
($281), North of Loma Pit ($281), Rest of Maybell Pit ($688), Myrin Pit ($281), Dotsero Cinder
Pit (281), N of Douglas Pass ($281), Independence Pass ($281), BLM Burnt Shale Pit ($281),
BLM Olathe Pit ($281) and BLMPit N of Loma 2 ($688).
At this time, we would usually issue a Notice of Violation for non-payment of the annual fees. In
that instance, automatic civil penalties would be issued equal to the amount of the annual fees due,
bringing the total due to $7248.
If the annual fee payments for the above-referenced sites aze submitted by May 12, 3003, these
permits will be in compliance and no Notices of Violation or civil penalties will be issued.
However, if the annual fee payments aze not submitted by May 12, Notices of Violation and civil
penalties will be issued for all of these sites and they will be scheduled for hearings during the
Mined Land Reclamation Boazd's June 24-25 meeting for possible permit revocation and financial
warranty forfeiture.
