- ANNUAL R~ FOR OCTOBER 10,1984, PERMI~itY
• BOETTCHER (OOODWIN) GYPSUM QUARRY -- PERMIT ND. 77-34E~
IARIMER COUNiY, COLORADO
IDEAL BASIC INDUSTRIES, INC., CEMEPTP DIVISION
The Boettcher cement plant receives about 18,000 tons of gypsum per year from
the Goodwin gypst~ quarry. Acing the time the Boettcher plant suspended pro-
duction from October 1, 1982 to approxiati3tely March 1, 1984, reclamation work
was done on approximately six (6) acres, and minor development work was done
to prepare for production from the west outcrops of the permit area. This
work was reported in the 1983 annual report. Since the startup of the Boettcher
plant, about March 1, 1984, the plant's needs have been met by the removal of
stockpile of gypstan fran the quarry site to the plant. No new misting activity
has been done, therefore, map bcc-1367a, stttmdtted with the 1983 annual report
is still current and valid.
1. Location and Number of Acres Affected During the Yeaz.
Forty (40) acres of affected area are under bond. Actual disturbed area
of 12.5 acres has not changed since the 1983 annual report.
2. location and Number of Acres ReclaiIIed During the Year.
No areas are considered as reclaimed at this time.
3. Location and Number of Acres in Various Stages of Reclamation.
The six (6) acres planted April 29, 1983, and reported in the 1983 annual
report are slowly revegitating, but will be observed for one irore season
before deciding if re-seeding is needed. No other areas aze under recla-
mation at this time.
4. Species of Vegetation Planted, the Location and Date Planted.
No planting was done during the report period.
5. T~e and Approximate Quality of Fertilizers, Organic Material or Soil Con-
ditioners Use an cation.
No fertilizers or soil conditioners have been used during this report period.
6. Appraisals of Results of Reclamation Efforts.
Vegetation of native grasses is still sparse on the area tinder reclamation,
however, conversations with the Soil Conservation Service have: indicated
that three seasons are soiretimes necessary for full development of seeding
in this very dry, rigorous area.
7. Estimates of Location and N~IInber of Acres to be Affected in ttie Coming Year.
Mining disttubance is projected to be less than one (1) acre per year, tbere-
fore, the currently bonded 40 acres will be sufficient for many years. Db
change in bonding is indicated.
8. The effective date of this information provided above is September 15, 1984.
