ANNUAL REPORT <br />Operator: United Companies of Mesa County <br />Operation: Berry Pit <br />File Number: M-1977-132 <br />Anniversary Date: January 16, 2003 <br />The Berry Pit was inactive during the report yeaz. No mining took place at the site. Minimal sales of gavel <br />products took place. A small volume of processed gravel material was removed from the site. The site <br />continues to be used as a storage location for grave] products. <br />United Companies applied to the Division to expand the permitted area at the Berry Pit. Amendment 1 to <br />the existing CDMG permit was submitted and accepted by the Division on June 11, 2002. The Mined Land <br />Reclamation Boazd approved the application on September 26, 2002. On October 30, 2002 the Division of <br />Minerals and Geology accepted the Reclamation Bond rider for this site (Liberty Mutual Insurance <br />Company Corporate Surety Bond 14-009-37 in the amount of $122,592.00). <br />During July, chemical herbicide was applied at the Berry Pit by Evergreen Weed Control of Meeker, CO. <br />Spraying was done to control noxious weeds at the site. Tazget weed species included leafy spurge, <br />common mullen, Canadian thistle, field bindweed and hounds tongue.
