Impouodmeot 001, October 29, 1992
Burrows Yes Burrows were located at the
heel of the dam (base of up-
stream slope), on the tap (see
Photograph No. 3), and just
below the nest on the up-
stream slope, 100 feet south of
the principal spillway structure
and within the high-water wave
action erosion zone (see Photo-
graph No. 4). No rodents were
seen during the inspection.
Possible species present, based
on the size of burrows, include
pocket gopher (Thomomys tafpo-
ides), prairie dogs (Cynomys spp)
or Richardson ground squirrels
(Spermophilus richardsonii).
No badger (Taridea taws) activi-
ty was observed. The location
of the upper burrows and lack
of habitat makes beaver (Cnstor
canadensis) an unlikely candi-
date. The burrow near the heel
of the dam and an established
stand of cattails (possibly Typha
angustijoliam and/or Typha (atif-
olia) on the bottom of the basin
make muskrat (Ondatra zibet-
hicus) apossible candidate.
Other No
Structural
Differential Settling No
Crack or Slides No
Seepage No
,,
- ~~.~..
'. y
f`'v
~r ~J_ Zrio~.
~:
-2-
~;_
