Impoundmrnt 002, Omober 29, 1992
Burrows Yes One burrow 4+fz feet below nest
of dam on downstream slope,
near center of dam. See Photo-
graph No. 2 No rodents seen
during the inspection. Possible
species, based on the size of
burrow, include pocket gopher
(Thomomys ralpoides), prairie
dogs (Cynonrys spp) or ]tichard-
soa ground squirrels (Spermop-
hilus richardsonii). The burrow
indicated no badger (Taridea
taxes) activity. The location of
the burrow (downstream slope
and above the probable phreatic
surface) and lack of prime habi-
tat make muskrat (Onda[rn zibet-
hicus) and beaver (Castor canad-
ensir) unlikely candidates.
Other No
Structural
Differential Settling No
Crack or Slides No
Seepage No
Other No
Appurtenant Structures
Defective Spillways No
Dewatering Device Clogged Yes Partial blockage of the principal
spillway a[ the bottom of drop
inlet, some on the bottom of the
outlet pipe, by tumbleweeds.
Faulty Gates, Battles, Pumps No
Other No

Additional Comments:
Some rills, gullies and benching on the pond basin slopes were noticed (see Photograph Nos. 3 and
4), most in the process of being stabilized by vegetation. There was no significant erosion or sediment
deposition in the pond from these features.

-2-
