<br /> <br />2. Location and Number of Acres Reclaimed During the Year. <br />A 31.5 acre area in cuts 1 and 2 has been removed from <br />warranty. The next area to be mined has a similar acreage <br />and thus was bonded in anticipation oP the mining. <br />3. Location and Number of Acres in Various Stages of Reclamation. <br />Approximately 30 acres in Cut 3 has been seeded, imprinted, <br />and Fertilized with sewer sludge. The grass yield was <br />disappointing but more plants are becoming evident. <br />The haul road ramp (approximately 1 acre) leading into the <br />north end oP Cut 5 is still being backfilled. <br />The overburden dump area in Cut 4 south and west of the 2.75 <br />acres removed Prom bond in 1986 is being expanded by <br />overburden removed Prom Cut 8. When topsoil is removed Prom <br />Cut 8 it will be placed in this area to Facilitate the <br />reclamation work. Approximately 8 acres are ready for <br />topsoil at this time. <br />4. Species of Vegetation Planted, the Location and Date of <br />Planting. <br />The following varieties of grasses and legumes were planted <br />on April 24 & 25, 1989, in Cut 3. <br />Side oats grama Vaughn variety <br />Indian Rice grass Paloma variety <br />Blue grama <br />Western Wheat grass <br />A1Palfa Laydac Variety <br />Fourwing Saltbush <br />5. Type and Approximate Quantity of Fertilizers, Organic <br />Material or Soil Conditioners Used and Location of Use. <br />Sewer sludge, applied at the rate of 5000 pounds per <br />acre has been applied to Cuts 1 and 3, also the eastern edge <br />oP Cut 2. <br />6. Appraisal of Results. <br />Twenty five oP the thirty Pinon Pine seedlings planted in <br />August oP 1988 have survived and are doing well. Four small <br />trees were transplanted from Cut 6 to the reclaimed area of <br />Cut 2. Two are presently living. The 1989 spring seeding oP <br />Cut 3 was done to avoid working in the area after sludge had <br />been applied. The grass plants are more plentiful but still <br />widespread. The tree transplanted near the east edge of Cut <br />3 has died. It was the largest tree to be transplanted to <br />date. <br />
