ANNUAL REPORT FOR OCTOBER 10, 1990 PERMIT ANNIVERSARY
PORTLAND LIMESTONE QUARRY PERMIT N0. 77-344
-----------------------------------------------------------------
FREMONT COUNTY, COLORADO
HOLNAM INC.
IDEAL CEMENT DIVISION
The rate of advancement in the mining at the Portland Limestone
Quarry decreased in 1990 due to the engineering study and tests
for utilizing certain additional quarry materials in the plant
raw materials supply. These materials proved to be less than
optimal for plant consumption, therefore will be included in the
overburden excavation process again. The rate of advancement
should be similar to that of 1987 and 1988.
Efforts to consolidate and expedite the reclamation process in
the Quarry continue in 1991. Some of the roads that isolated
portions of the reclaimed areas have been back filled and
prepared for reclamation.
The status of the mining areas follow:
1. Location and Number of Acres Affected Duriag the Year.
The Mined Land Reclamation Board has approved the removal of
31.5 acres of reclaimed land from warranty this year. A
request to transfer the warranty to the next mining area was
also granted, thus the overall acreage affected has not
changed.
Shown below is a summary of the areas.
Total Permitted Area 1526 Acres
Current Affected Area, Bonded 330.25 Acres
Minor Disturbance, Seeded, ready for
seeding, and receiving eewer sludge. 114.75 Acres
Moderate Disturbance, Stabilized waste,
roads, overburden and working areas.
Includes 31.5 acres oP warranty ex-
change, will be mined in succeeding
years. 125.50 Acres
Ma,ior Disturbance, active quarry areas. 90 Acres
