<br /> <br />ANNUAL REPORT FOR OCTOBER 10, 1990 PERMIT ANNIVERSARY <br />PORTLAND LIMESTONE QUARRY PERMIT N0. 77-344 <br />----------------------------------------------------------------- <br />FREMONT COUNTY, COLORADO <br />HOLNAM INC. <br />IDEAL CEMENT DIVISION <br />The rate of advancement in the mining at the Portland Limestone <br />Quarry decreased in 1990 due to the engineering study and tests <br />for utilizing certain additional quarry materials in the plant <br />raw materials supply. These materials proved to be less than <br />optimal for plant consumption, therefore will be included in the <br />overburden excavation process again. The rate of advancement <br />should be similar to that of 1987 and 1988. <br />Efforts to consolidate and expedite the reclamation process in <br />the Quarry continue in 1991. Some of the roads that isolated <br />portions of the reclaimed areas have been back filled and <br />prepared for reclamation. <br />The status of the mining areas follow: <br />1. Location and Number of Acres Affected Duriag the Year. <br />The Mined Land Reclamation Board has approved the removal of <br />31.5 acres of reclaimed land from warranty this year. A <br />request to transfer the warranty to the next mining area was <br />also granted, thus the overall acreage affected has not <br />changed. <br />Shown below is a summary of the areas. <br />Total Permitted Area 1526 Acres <br />Current Affected Area, Bonded 330.25 Acres <br />Minor Disturbance, Seeded, ready for <br />seeding, and receiving eewer sludge. 114.75 Acres <br />Moderate Disturbance, Stabilized waste, <br />roads, overburden and working areas. <br />Includes 31.5 acres oP warranty ex- <br />change, will be mined in succeeding <br />years. 125.50 Acres <br />Ma,ior Disturbance, active quarry areas. 90 Acres <br />
