ERHIBIT IV
DORCHESTER COAL MINE
STRESS MODEL
FOR
PARACRUTE PIPELINE
A). Two separate methods for stress modeling were used. The chosen
model is shown as Exhibit V and VI. The model not chosen assumed
that the subsided beam would approximate a cosine wave. Axial
tension stresses were determined as if the system were a free
hanging catenary. Since the stresses obtained by the
cosine/catenary analysis were less than those developed by the
displacement model, the displacement model is presented here.
Additional torsion forces are calculated and included to simulate
the stress if the subsidence were to occur at a bend in the pipe.
B.) Additional cases were run to determine the sensitivity to the base
case model (Exh1b1C6 VII-RII).
