t 5. CONTAMINANT CHARACTERISTICS
' Soil and groundwater sample results are discussed in the following sections of the report.
Copies of TLI laboratory reports for the samples collected from the site are enclosed in
Appendix E.

5.1 Soil Sample Results
Laboratory results for soil samples analyzed from MW-2 are summarized in Table 2 in
Appendix B of this report. Laboratory results for previous soil samples collected from the
site during the soil abatement activities are also included in Table 2. The analytical results
for the assessment samples are also shown on Figure 5 in Appendix A. As seen in Table 2
and on Figure 5, BTEX concentrations were not observed above the laboratory detection
limits of 2 micrograms per kilogram (µg/Kg) or were observed at relatively low
concentrations in the two (2) soil samples analyzed from MW-2. TEPH concentrations were
not observed above the laboratory detection limit of 10 milligrams per kilogram (mg/Kg) in
the two (2) soil samples analyzed from MW-2.
The Tier I RBSLs for the leachate to groundwater ingestion exposure pathway and TPH
Threshold soil standards, as published in Section 5.3 of the Storage Tank Regulations
(7CCR 1101-14), are also summarized in Table 2. As seen from Table 2, BTEX and TEPH
concentrations observed in the soil samples analyzed from MW-2 did not exceed the Tierl
RBSLs or TPH Threshold. As previously reported, the TEPH concentrations observed in the
West Wall North End, Bottom #1, South Wall Middle, Class 7 Run and Stockpile soil
satrtples exceeded ttte TPH Threshold standard. As also previously reported, the BTEX and
Polynuclear Aromatic Hydrocarbon (PAH) concentrations observed in the soil samples
analyzed from the site during the soil abatement activities did not exceed the Tierl RBSLs.
Based on analytical results for soil samples collected from the site to date, the following
observations are made regarding soil contamination at the site.
• BTEX concentrations observed in 15 soil samples analyzed from the site and PAH
concentrations observed in three (3) soil samples analyzed from the site did not
exceed the Tier 1 RBSLs.
