AinuwnR <br />Thf; purpose of this report is to summarize the results of the assessment activities performed <br />at the above-referenced site in July and August 2001 as well as potential impacts from the <br />diesel-fuel release at the site. As requested, two (2) copies of this report were submitted to <br />the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE). Copies of this report <br />were also submitted to the Weld County Department of Environmental Health and Colorado <br />Division of Minerals and Geology. The approximate location of the site is shown on Figures <br />1 and 2 in Appendix A of this report. <br />1. BACKGROUND AND IIISTORY <br />The subject facility is leased by Aggregate Industries -WCR, Inc. (Aggregate Industries) and <br />is used for the mining of aggregates and production of asphalt pavement. A 10,000-gallon <br />diesel-fuel above-ground storage tank (AST) was utilized at the site for the fueling of on-site <br />machinery and vehicles. The AST was installed at the site in May 2000. A different <br />dispenser with new underground piping was installed at the site in March 2001 and the <br />modified fueling system was placed into operation on April l7, 2001 after the electrical <br />service for the dispenser was completed. <br />During the reconciliation of the April 2001 inventory records for the AST, it was discovered <br />that a release had occurred from the diesel-fuel system.
