' Aggregate Industries - F Slreet Site Characterization Report
Project Number 1001018 ~nxnooN
October 9, 2001
Page I1
7. The BTEX concentrations observed in the groundwater samples collected from MW-
' 1 through MW-4 and EW-I in July 2001 did not exceed the MCLs.
8. Signiticant impacts to the property boundary, stbsurface utilities, structures,
' registered groundwater wells and nearby surface water bodies from the diesel-fuel
release at the subject site do not appear to be likely at this time based on current
contaminant characteristics and readily available information regarding those
receptors.
The following recommendations are made based on information obtained during the soil and
' groundwater abatement and assessment activities.
1. It does not appear that additional soil or groundwater remediation is warranted at the
site at this time based on current contaminant characteristics.
2. One (l) additional groundwater monitoring well should be installed at the site to the
' north-northeast of well MW-2.
3. Three (3) additional quarters of groundwater monitoring should be performed at the
site to confirm that significant petroleum hydrocarbon contamination in groundwater
' is not present at the site.
4. Impacted soil which may be encountered during future mining activities performed in
' the spill area should be handled in accordance with Federal, State and local
regulations.
' S. Preparation of a Corrective Action Plan does not appear to be necessary since
evaluation of active remedial options is not warranted at this time and groundwater
monitoring appears to be appropriate for the site.
8. GENERAL COMMENTS
' The analyses and opinions expressed in this report are based on data obtained from the
indicated locations along with other information described in this report. This report does
not retlect any variations in subsurface geohydrology or contaminant distribution which may
' occur between wells and or across the site. Actual subsurface conditions may vary and may
not become evident without further exploration. Due to the dynamic nature of groundwater
' flow and contaminant migration, subsurface conditions will vary with time.
This report was prepared for the exclusive use of Aggregate Industries - WCR, Inc. for
' specific application to the subject property and has been prepared in accordance with
generally accepted geo-environmental engineering practices. No warranties, either express
or implied, are intended or made. In the event that changes in the nature or location of
1
