March Monthly/I"' Quarter Report - 2002
Page 2
"B List" Projects
• Columbus Mine Portals -Mine Waste Dumps
• London Mine Portals -Waste Dumps
Work, permitting or arrangement for access is not planned until it becomes evident that
the work plans for these projects require implementation.
Mayflower Facility -Upland Hydrological Control
Tailings Pond No. 4 Surface Drainage Modification
Tailings Pond No. 4 Upland Groundwater Diversion
DMG has inspected the sites and approved the projects as complying with the work plans
and MLR Standards.
Due to the scant snowfall this past winter, these sites were beginning to melt out by the
end of March although no progress pictures were taken. The diversions were working and
diverting water. It is not anticipated that flow quantities diverted during 2002 will
approach those observed since implementation of the projects due to the limited snowfall
received over the 2001-2002 winter.
Cement Creek Diversion and Water Treatment
Cement Creek diversion and water treatment was active throughout March and the l~'
quarter. During the quarter, basically all of Cement Creek was diverted for treatment with
the remaining American Tunnel flow although at quarter end, Cement Creek flow had
increased to the point that intake control to the treatment system was required.
The March 2002 monitoring results for; dissolved metals in the AT-004 discharge;
Cement Creek (CC-1B); American Tunne] flow before treatment (AT-INFEL); and
Cement Creek below the AT-004 discharge point (CC-20) are attached.
