MLRB January 7, 1981 Page 2 2.41(2) In 1978, resoiling, grass revegetation and tree plant- ing occurred on 8.Ot acres. (See medium green color on attached map for location of these lands.) All of the seeding was done on land disturbed prior to 1978. In 1979, resoiling, grass revegetation and tree plant- ing occurred on 15.0± acres. Of this total, 8.Ot acres was reseeded on land originally seeded in 1978 because the 1978 seeding appeared to be failing. (The additional 7.Ot acres is shown in light green color on the attached map.) 2.41(3) In 1978, there was 2.401 acres reclaimed as lake, 2.40f acres of bank area resoiled and ready for re- vegetation, 0.01± acres in new road, and S.Ot acres of pre-permit lands revegetated. In 1979, there was 3.75f acres reclaimed as lake and 15.OOt acres revegetated (this 15 acres included the 8.Ot acres revegetated in 1978). 2.41(4) In April 1978, Randall and Blake seeded 8.Ot acres with 3.5#/acre Western Wheatgrass, 2.0#/acre Stream- bank Wheatgrass and 4.0#/acre Tall Wheatgrass. In addition, 12 Colorado Blue Spruce (2-3 ft), 12 Pinon Pine (2-6 ft), and 6 Rocky Mountain Junipers were planted. The trees were planted along the lake peri- meter. In D4ay 1979, Valley Crest Landscape, Inc. planted 12.Ot acres in "dry land grass" seed and 3.Of acres in "wet land grass" seed. Eight of the 15.0± acres was pre- viously planted with the wheatgrasses noted above. In addition, approximately 100 pinon pine trees were planted around the existing lake perimeter. 2.41(5) In 1978 no fertilizer was applied. In 1979, approximately 250# of N2 and 200 # of P205 per acre was applied on the entire 15.Ot acres. This figure is an estimate from the cost of fertilizer billed to Kilgroe-Atchison. 2.41(6) In 1978, the reclamation effort was completely success- ful with one exception. The grasses did not grow. Perhaps a lack of fertilizer or a lack of water was the cause. Possibly the wrong grasses were used.
