5. The type and approximate quantity of fertilizers, organic material, or soil
conditioners used and location of use.
RESPONSE:
None
6. An appraisal of the success of reclamation efforts and in the event of failure of any
efforts, a short narrative on the suspected or determined cause of such failure.
RESPONSE:
As stated earlier, reclamation efforts have just begun at Mesa Gravel Pit. We are
confident that reclamation will be successful because the same personnel and equipment
will be used as that at our Seneca II Coal Mine. The reclamation operations have been
very successful there.
7. Estimates of the location and number of acres to be affected in the coming year.
RESPONSE:
Exhibit D-I, Mining Plan, submitted with the permit application shows the proposed
disturbance area. The disturbance area, of course, is directly related to our demand for
gravel. Our present mining rate is somewhat less than originally estimated for The
permit year 1983-1984. Our proposed rate for the coming year is 49,000 tons and the
anticipated disturbance is:
Area Acres
Indicated as Year One (I) 2.3
Overburden Stockpile 0.9
(approximately I/2 area shown)
Topsoil removed in advance of pit 0.8
-3-
