MANAGEMENT
Re: Bowie Resources Limited
Bowie No 2 Mine
Adequacy Response
1999 Annual Reports
Permit No. C-96-083
On Behalf of Bowie Resources Limited, we are submitting the following in response to the
adequacy concerns expressed in your letter of November 30, 2000.
1999 Annual Hydroloev Report
/n the data presented in the 1999 AHR, there are quire a few springs, two surface water
sites (Stepp-up and TC-West) and four ground water sites (DH-13, AW-1, AW-8 and AW-
10) that are missing baseline full suite analyses. This is even though, apparently, enough
water was present to be sampled. /n addition, at some sites (5-10, Stepp-up, DH-13, DH-
57, DH-58, DH-58a and AW-2), the field baseline data is absent, even though,
apparently, water was present that could have been sampled. Please explain.
There aze quite a few springs included in the monitoring program which aze normally dry
or seeps. These springs have not produced water in sufficient quantity to require full suite
analysis. The operator feels that the absence of flows from these sources is the baseline
for these springs. Stepp-up has never exhibited flows sufficient for analysis. TC-west was
monitored in anticipation of a future permit expansion. Any permit expansion that would
now include the drainage basin of TC-west is now considered in the distant future, and as
such, this point will no longer be monitored.
Sites S-10 and Stepp-up do not produce sufficient water for field pazameters or a
derivation of baseline from those pazameters. DH-13 was destroyed by mining, but before
