No land had been
disturbed up to this time. in February, 1990 we leased 35.00
acres to Aggregates, Inc., they will follow our approved plan.
Originally mining was to start in Stage I on the far western side
of the property and move to the east ending in Stage VIII. The
South Platte river was along this west side at the time the permit
was issued in 1979 (gray) and a section of old river channel
(brown) extended thru Stage II and into Stage III. Since 1979 the
river has gradually eaten away most of Stage i and Part of Stage
II (blue). We have found that the material in the old river bed
is full of wood, glass, tires, cans, etc, that make the gravel
very hard to process and get a good quality product.
As a result of this Aggregates, Inc. started mining on the
western most part of Stage IV and mined to the west into the part
of Stage III that was virgin ground. The plant site was setup in
Stage IV and part of Stage V. Please refer to the map attached
for the area discussed in this report.
The following information is submitted as required in Section
2.4 of the Rules and Regulations.
2.4
(1) At the current time we have 28.64 acres ± disturbed in the
pit. This entire area is stripped of topsoil and the topsoil
is stockpiled east of the plant area (purple). Of this
disturbed area, 10.50 acres ± is plant site (yellow) with
stockpiles and 4.44 acres ± is lake area (dark blue) where
mining is going on. The remaining 13.70 acres is ready to be
mined (tan) . There is a 1.41 acre ± pond in the plant area
that is used for fresh water and as a siltation pond (lite
blue).
