Pendleton
RE: SOUTHFIELD SU DE
~,
~~-~r-,
ITORING REPORT - AUGUST 1985 (PERMIT C-81-014)
In response to your request, I have reviewed the semi-annual subsidence
monitoring report submitted by Energy Fuels Corporation for their Southfield
Mine. The report presents the results of their August, 1985 survey of the
subsidence monuments installed above the Southfield underground mine.
Anticipated movement is occurring above the grid line monuments, while lesser
amounts of movement are occurring in the area of the Florence city waterline,
as projected within the original application materials.
The report presents the raw uninterpreted survey data. The purpose of the
reporting requirement is to compare the observed subsidence movements with the
projected movements contained within the approved application. I believe that
Energy Fuels Corporation should amend their report to add a text discussion
presenting their opinions of the comparison between their observed subsidence
data and the subsidence characteristics projected within their permit
documentation. This comparison should consider both the magnitude and nature
of observed subsidence as well as the predicted secondary consequences of
subsidence, such as impact to structures and renewable resource lands.
/ljc
cc: Mike Long
4606E
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203 Tel.
