lJ
Shown on Plate 1 are locations of inflow to the Southfield Mine ae mapped
by Southfield Hine personnel. Inflow to the mine ie limited to fractures
and overworkinge in the northern part of the mine and small seeps from the
roof ribs and/or the floor in the more active parts of the mine. Quantity
and quality data of mine inflow are summarized as mine discharge from
sediment ponds 1 (Discharge Point 001). 2 (Discharge Point 003) and 5
(Discharge Point 004).
' iiAiHH IISHD IB iHH MIIIHG OPBBASIOa AI® WAiHB BAId1iCH
Figure 11 is a schematic diagram illustrating water use at the mine.
Included on the diagram are sources of water. water uses. discharges from
the mine. and consumptive uses. Complete records of the water meters
shown on the diagram are available for moat of 1985; the records were
adjusted to reflect a full calendar year for 1985 and those numbers have
been used in the analysis of water use at the mine. Table 17 lists a
summary of the records kept for the meters associated with water used in
the mining operation for the period of record.
Dewatering of the Southfield Mine is by underground pumps and the North
Entry Well. The North Entry Well and the Corley well pumps inflow to the
first fresh water pond (see Figure 11). Water from this pond is
distributed through the second fresh water pond to different phases of the
mining operation on an as needed basis. Eaceae water not utilized in the
' mining operations is treated and discharged to the stream system.
Total monthly water requirements do not fluctuate greatly through the year
t buC are slightly higher in the warmer months because of increased
evaporation from ponds and the need for outside duet suppression. Monthly
consumptive uses for 1985 levels of mining are show in Table 18. The
total annual consumptive use by the mine ie presently 40.8 acre-feet.
I averaging 2.9 acre-feet per month in the winter and 3.8 acre-feet per
month in the summer.
i _5_
