f

l.~
Surface Water - Quality
The water quality data show no change or impact from the mine operation.
No change ie necessary to the existing program.
Surface Pater - Quantity
The water quantity data show no change or impact from the mine operation.
No changes to the existing program are necessary.
!line Water Discharges
Water quality data from the monitoring program indicate that total iron
and suspended solids concentrations in the discharge water infrequently
e:teed the discharge permit effluent limitations. These infrequent
exceedancea may be the result of the loss of storage and settling capacity
of Pond No. 2 (Discharge Point 003). To correct this and to bring the
discharge of mine water to the stream system back to within the effluent
limitations. Pond No. 2 should be dredged and its storage capacity
increased. This will increase the settling time which may reduce total
suspended solids and potentially reduce total iron concentrations in the
discharge water.
Conclusions
The monitoring program as operated can continue and will provide data
adequate to monitor the hydrologic impacts of the mine. Pond No. 2 should
be dredged and its storage capacity increased. No other changes in the
monitoring program are necessary.
- 7 -
