Study Plan Design <br />The scope of work for the revegetation study consists of three phases as follows: <br />1. Pre-reclamation investigation; <br />2. Test plot reclamation plan; and <br />3. Post-reclamation investigation. <br />The first two phases have been completed during the discussions with DMG for design of <br />the program and construction of the test plots during the Summer of 1990. The following <br />sections summarize the issues associated with each phase. <br />Pre-reclamation Investigation <br />The following tasks and assumptions were agreed upon and completed before starting the <br />RP-1 test plot reclamation with varying topsoil/subsoil cover thicknesses. <br />• One representative composite topsoil sample and one representative subsoil sample were <br />analyzed for the following parameters: <br />Specific Conductance <br />Calcium <br />Organic Matter <br />Texture <br />Magnesium <br />Sodium <br />SAR <br />pH <br />Phosphorus <br />Nitrate <br />Results of these analyses are presented in Appendix I. <br />• Two separate composite samples of the coal refuse, one from the north slope plot area <br />and one from the south slope plot area were analyzed for the following parameters in <br />addition to those listed for topsoil/subsoil: <br />Exchangeable Sodium Percentage Boron <br />Selenium Sulfate Sulfur <br />Pyritic Sulfur Total Sulfur <br />Acid base Potential <br />3 <br />
