Banta
Diwon Director
Enclosed are the analyses from the topsoil and coal waste samples I collected
at the Deserado Mine RP$1 on April 24, 1990. Refuse Analyses indicate that
the material is highly sodic and anederate°ly%saline. Diffusion of sodium sans
into replaced cover soils could possibly occur, depending on characteristics
of the cover soil. It would be prudent to sample incremental cover soil
depths upon completion of test plot construction so that any upward movement
of sodium over time could be monitored. Parameters could be limited to
textural analysis, electrical conductivity and sodium adsorption ratio.
I will be interested to see how closely the enclosed analyses compare to the
sample splits which Tim Chervick submitted for analysis.
if you have any questions.

Gan T.
