Siegrist:
At your request, I have made a site inspection of the Siegrist Sand and
Gravel Pit near Del Camino and have the following seeding recommendations
for tlm Hillside:
Sideoats grams (Vaughn) 2.70
Pubescent wheatgrass (Luna) 3.50
lJestern wheatgrass (Arriba) 3.20
Dlue grams (Covington) .45
Yellow sweet clover 70
10.55 lbs/ac PLS*
*PLS = Pure Live Seed. The actual seeding rate will be determined
by the purity and germination rate of the seed.
The riverbAnks should be seeded to the following mixture:
Tall wheatgrass (Largo)
Western wheatgrass (Arriba)
Switchgrass (Grenville)
Alkali sacaton
Yellow sweet clover
2.55
2.40
1.35
.45
.70
7.45 lbs/ac PLS
This seeding rate is the amount required if the seed is drilled. If the
broadcast method is used, the seeding rate should be doubled.
The seedbed should be smooth and firmed and relatively free of weed seed.
A mulch may be required to retain soil moisture, hold soil in place until
the seeding is established, or prevent wind erosion.
Seed can be sown between November 1 and May 31,
fertilizer should be used according to soil test
50 lbs/ac nitrogen and 40 lbs/ac phosphorus.

1I
unless 'the ground is frozen.
results or at a rate of
fp-~f
