After their review of last year's Seneca II AHR, the CDMG made several
comments in a letter dated July 1, 2003. Item One noted that no water
levels for Well SWC15 were present in the AHR, and that Well SWC10 is
not listed in the permit. SCC's response: Zn the 2002 AHR, on page A-3
in Appendix A, it is noted that Well SWC15 was abandoned in August 1997.
Further review of records indicates that this well was actually
abandoned on March 11, 1998. An abandonment report dated May 8, 1998
was submitted to Erica Crosby of the CDMG. SCC will correct AHR page A-
3, and submit a revision in 2004 to remove Well SWC15, and add Well
SWC10, to the monitoring program.
Item Two requested that Spoil Spring 10A, lOB and lOC be added to the
monitoring program. SCC's response: In 2001 and 2002, flow at 10B
averaged only 5.8 gpm i.n May and was dry in September. For lOC, flow
averaged only 3.0 gpm in May and was dry in September. No monitoring
was conducted at lOB and 10C in 2003 since the road to these two springs
has been reclaimed. Since all of the flow from lOB and lOC eventually
makes its way to 10 and 10A, and since the road to lOB and 10C no longer
exists, SCC does not plan to make 10B and lOC part of the required
monitoring program. SCC will submit a revision in 2004 to add l0A to
the monitoring program.
Meteorological Data
Precipitation data was obtained at the Seneca ZI Mine using a Belfort
Weighing Bucket Rain Gage. Daily precipitation data for this year are
presented in Table 1. Total monthly precipitation data collected since
1981 are presented in Table 2. Where indicated, data from the U.S.
Weather Service - Hayden Station were used. Temperature, wind speed and
direction data are presented in Appendix B of the Seneca II-W AHR. The
Seneca II-W Mine Meteorological Station located approximately seven
miles southwest of the Seneca II Mine. Climatic conditions are similar
between the two mines.

2
