N ~M
State of Colorado
Plarch 6, 1981
Page 2
Fill Areas
Initially, we were going to fill in an old washout pond with
overt~urden stripped off the mining area.
This has been done, along with carplete.leveling of the.over-
burden and preparing it for building or farm ng use. Approximately
two acres has been reclaimed in this area.
We have also ranoved an old barbed wire fence r~mning along pne
side of this pond and have replaced it with a new chain link one.
Wildlife
The wildlife portion of our reclamation plan has also been
accarplished by the stocking of 250 rainbow trout in the gravel pit.
~rlhen we first stocked the trout, they were from one to three inches
in length and in one year's time they had gravn to twelve inches.
Also, in the past two years, significantly more ducks and geese
have been using the gravel pit as a feeding and nesting area.
Summary
In surmary,.it should be noted that we accomplished 100 percent
of what our original reclamation plan goals were determined to be.
Also, it should be mentioned that there is a possibility that
we might experiment with a dredging operation during the summer of
1981 which would replace the dragline as a means to excavate the raw
gravel. If this occurs, it would change our mining plan slightly,
but would not affect our reclamation plan.
Enclosed is a copy of our reclamation plan map showing what
reclamation has been accomplished.
Very truly yours,
MATHIAS COPICRETE, INC.
~~ ~ ~~~
Thomas G.
