Gunnison No, 1 Mine,
CMLRD Permit No. C-007-80.
Dear Susan:
Please find enclosed three copies of the Subsidence
Monitoring Data for the monuments located above the
1W1S panel, 1W2S panel, and South Main Intake
development entries.
Included in the data are two pre-mining surveys,
three surveys completed while panel 1W15 was being
retreat mined, and two post mining surveys completed
while panel 1W25 was being mined and after 1W15 panel
was completely mined out.
Two surveys will be performed in 1988, as weather
permits, and are planned for late April and
September.
A cursory look at the monitoring data to date shows a
maximum subsidence on the order of 1.9 feet in the
middle of panel 1W15, 2.2 feet in the middle of panel
1W25, and no apparent movement over the South Main
Intake development entries.
West Elk Coal Company is in the process of evaluating
the subsidence monitoring data, as well as continuing
to collect additional data. West Elk Coal Company
will submit an evaluation of the data to the Division
when it is completed. The evaluation should be
completed by mid to late summer, 1988.
