-2-

had been placed in the trench, the backfill was moisture treated as
necessary and leveled using a blade. Compaction of the backfill was
achieved using a CAT 825, self-propelled compactor. Photographs 5 and 6
show a portion of the compaction procedure as ~r~ell as the backfill
material.
Field density tests were taken during the backfilling operation, by a
representative of our office. The results of our testing, presented on
sheets 1 and 2 attached with this letter, indicate that in general the fill
was compacted to 90+ percent of maximum Proctor density determined in
accordance with ASTM D 1557.
If we can be of further service in discussing the contents of this letter,
our observations made during construction, or in discussing the
construction of spoil area 2A from a geoteciinical point of view, please
call,
Very truly yours, v~„--~.-;,,
CTL/Thompso
n, n %'~~' ~"i°=

n
BY ~ <i "'~ rte' -
t iam C fm Jr., P. t. ~ ~~ -
bi -
.
:f ti
,
,
Reviewed by: ~ -
'"~~'~ ~

Robert W.
