r• ~•
-z-
roughly bisects the fill area from elevation 7355 to 7455. The drain ex-
cavation was backfilled using sandstone, developed from excavations at
the Energy Fuels Corporation mine. Photographs of the drain material are
included in Appendix A.
After installation of the drain system, construction of the upper spoil
area began. The construction procedure consisted of dumping spoil at
desired fill locations and spreading the soil to thicknesses on the order
of 4 feet. Compaction was obtained by directing over-burden truck traffic
across the fill surface.
Our firm had a representative present during various construction phases
to observe construction and to perform field density testing. Our obser-
vations and results of field density testing indicate that the buttress
fill for the upper spoil area was constructed in general conformance with
our recommendations presented in our original report (Job No. 5664B and
subsequent letter, Job No. 6210, dated March 31, 1980).
I:f desired, we can provide specific data on field density testing per-
formed during construction. If we can be of further service in discussing
the contents of this letter, our observations during construction or in
discussing the construction of spoil area 2A, please call.
Very truly yours,
CTL/THOMPSON, INC.
By ti:%wa,.:.t~va. ~. •~.d.~Yrltdr/~s. ~:~.
Wm, C.
