Additional Pages
2000 Annual Report
Fountain Pit
M-82-155
Centennial Materials
Anniversary Date: December 31
Overview of Permit Year: During the 2000 operating year there was a great deal of activity at this site.
This was primarily due to the very active construction market throughout the Colorado Springs area.
Mining is proceeding eastward into the previously stripped land and some new land has been stripped on
the east and south sides of the pit. It appears possible that some additional land will need to be stripped
during the next year. Of course, this all depends on the amount of economic activity and associated
market.
Annual Report Maps: The enclosed maps show the primary areas of disturbance and the type of
disturbance occurring in each area. The current maps reflect an updated portrayal of the operation zones
as based upon aerial photography taken before the preparation of the annual report.
Affected Lands: The amount of affected land has increased in the last year. The same processes of
operating the pit are being used as has been used in the past. This operation is quite similar to the way it
was last year, although slightly larger. The only other significant change is the extension of the conveyor
an additional amount so the plant does not need to be moved.
Revegetation: The site is stable and is not subject to erosion. An inspection was done near the end of
the permit year. No additional revegetation was done in the last year.
Expected Activity (2001): Mining will proceed eastward into the stripped land. It is possible that some
additional stripping may occur. With the economy showing some signs of a slow down this might not
occur as a considerable amount of land is already stripped and ready for mining.
Bonding: This operation is covered by a self bond. Enclosed is a copy of the most recent Divisional
Balance Sheet for Schmidt Construction. Centennial Materials and Schmidt Construction are financially
related and are both subsidiaries of Edw. C. Levy Co.
Centennial Materials 2000 Annual Report M-82-155 Fountain Pit Page 1 of 1
