Mining commenced last year and we stripped a part
of the area in Stage 1 from the ditch setback north to the river
setback. This pit HAS NOT been granted a Temporary Cessation and
'wit HAS operated more than 180 days this year.
We will deal specifically with each of the Annual Report
questions as outlined in Section 2 . 4 . 1 of the Rules and Regula-
tions, revised 11/90. Please refer to the Annual Report Map
attached for the areas discussed in this report.
2.4.1
(1) Mining continued in Stage 1 this year, to date we have 3 .81 ac. ±
partially mined (brown) and 0. 63 ac. ± stripped ready for mining
(tan) . We are using 4 . 54 acres ± of the Shop Area in Stage 2
(yellow) as a processing site, a stockpile area and for equipment
storage. Along the south side of the mined area we established the
slope from the ditch setback to the bottom of the pit. The river
protection berm along the north side of Stage 1 is complete where
there is a chance the river could be affected. We will continue to
extend this berm as mining progresses. These berms serve as
topsoil stockpiles as shown along the north sides of Stages 1 and
2 (gray) .
The total area disturbed to date is 8.98 acres ±.
(2) No Reclamation was required this year. In 1989 we planted
approximately 300 bare root seedling along the south property line
from west of the access road to the west property line. We had
very little success in establishing these trees. Of the seedling
planted all died or were eaten by wildlife (mice, rabbits, deer,
etc. ) . These trees will be replaced when the ditch is moved to
