The total <br />consumptive use by the mining operation was 27.99 acre-feet. This <br />consumptive use is high compared to prior years. The operator does <br />not have an explanation for the higher than usual consumptive use <br />of water in the mine. <br />Water is utilized in the mine for dust suppression. The <br />continuous miner, while working at the face can consume up to 50 <br />gallons per minute. Water sprays are also utilized at underground <br />conveyor transfer points for dust suppression. Underground roads <br />are also watered. <br />Water which is imported to the mine is pumped from the onsite <br />well located adjacent to and east of the maintenance shop. A flow <br />7 <br />
