SNELTON, Director
DATE: 27 August 1987
T0: Gregg Squire %/~
FROM: Jim Pendleton ~~-- ~`~-
RE: Semi-Annual sidenc onitoring Report - Longlvall Extraction Area
of agle No. 5 Mine (Permit No: C-81-044)
I have completed a review of the above referenced report, summarizing
subsidence monitoring data for the longwall area of the Eagle No. 5 through
June, 1987. The report observes that subsidence rates have reduced above
Panels 1 and 2, as expected, and are initially rapid above the relatively new
Panel 3. Angles of draw have been determined and interesting observations are
presented regarding cantilevering of overburden above the extracted panels.
Maximum vertical subsidence of 7.16 feet has been observed, compared with a
predicted maximum of 8.0 feet. Angles of draw, projected +it 20 degrees, have
been determined at -1.19 degrees updip from the gob, 19.1 degrees downdip form
the gob, and 19.78 degrees behind the gob (roughly along strike from the gob).
Empire Energy Corporation continues to do an exemplary job of documenting and
analyzing the subsidence occurring above the highwall extr+~ction area of the
Eagle No. 5 mine.
cc: Mike Long
423 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203-2:?73 Tel.
