• SECTION 8 -REGRADED OVERBURDEN SAMPLING
RULE REQUIREMENT
Sampling of regraded overburden is performed at a density of one sample per five acres
of regraded area (PAP Exhibit 6, Item #4, Colowyo letter of January 4, 1983). Colowyo
recognizes the potential for elevated SAR values (PAP page 2.04.6-9). Threshold SAR
values for special handling are identified as "suspect levels". The SAR "suspect level" at
Colowyo is 15 (PAP, Exhibit 6, Item #4, Colowyo letter of January 4, 1983). Remedial
measures consist of additional samples to determine the extent of the suspect material
(PAP, Exhibit 6, Item #4, Colowyo letter of January 4, 1983). If the aerial extent is
greater than one acre, it is to be covered with at least five feet of acceptable material. See
Exhibit 8A for permit commitment documentation.
GENERAL DISCUSSION
No overburden sampling occurred in 2006.
•
i.
C.F. 17.14 2006
