GOLDEN, CO 80401 FAX: 303-384-8161 www.cityofg of den.n et Attached please find the annual report form and map for the Empire Pit. Golden continued to make progress during 2005 to reclaim the site. Construction of the water reservoir was completed in 2004 and the inlet structure and pipeline was constructed in 2005. In general, reclamation is complete on the west side of the site where the reservoir and inlet structure are located. Approximately 6.5 acres were graded and seeded in the fall after construction of the inlet structure and pipeline. An additional 2 acres were revegitated based on inspection of seeding performed in 2004. In addition, noxious weed control was completed in disturbed and recently revegitated areas. There were no new disturbances in 2005 and none are planned for 2006. The only disturbance remaining at the site is the material stockpile and associated processing area located on the east portion of the permit area (see attached map). Efforts to process and remove the materials stockplie continued in 2005. In May, the stockpile was surveyed to set a baseline for volume calculations. The stockpile will be surveyed annually to monitor the pace of material processing. Golden estimates that, to date, Everist Materials has processed and sold approximately 140,000 cy of the stockpile. The City of Golden hopes that processing will accelerate in 2006. During 2005, the stockpile was retreated with Soiltac and a seed mixture to minimize fugitive dust. In 2006, areas that were revegitated in 2005 will be re-seeded as necessary and the stockpile will be retreated to minimize fugitive dust from the operation.
