Several areas of minor infestations oC musk and Scotch thistle, <br />hounds tongue, and loco weed have been identified. <br />A combinaflon of Banvil (dicamba} plus 2,4-D wilt be applied to the thistle rosettes before the thistle <br />bolts. Rate of application, as recommended by CSU Cooperative Extension, is 0.5 quarts Banvel plus 1.0 <br />quarts 2,4-D per acre. Mechanical control will be used aRer the terminal head is in the late flowering <br />stage. The cut debris will be gathered and burned to destroy any seed that has developed. <br />Hounds tongue is a biannual weed. 2,4-D (1.5 quarts per acre) will be applied to the rosettes during [he <br />firs[ yeaz of growth. Plants in the second year of growth generally must be controlled by mechanical <br />means. <br />Loco weed generally has been found on undisturbed grass lands adjacent [o reclaimed areas.
