`_
Ronald G. Thompson
Peak Project Management, LLC
34115 County Road 20.8
Trinidad, Colorado 81082
April 11, 2002
Golden Eagle Mine
Rill & Gully Inspection
Reclamation areas of the Golden Eagle Mine were visually inspected for the presence of erosional features
requiring maintenance. Limit precipitation has been noted since previous inspections conducted in 2001.
As a result, erosion has had little impact on the reclamation areas at the Golden Eagle. The following
conditions were observed:
Rack check dams installed across erosion channels on the north-facing slope where the coal loadout was
located continue to control erosion. Several new areas (of differential settling?) were noted and need to be
filled in with soil material and reseeded.
Minor erosion was noted on the Northwest Bleeder fan site. This area was seeded in May of 2000.
Establishment of vegetative cover is limited. Seeding has been scheduled for this spring. At the surface
owners recommendation, seeding has been delayed pending precipitation to increase soil moisture.
No problems from erosion were noted elsewhere within the reclamation areas.
~~~
