Access road cuts of any important height will have to be
supported as well.
4. If the ground water conditions do not improve prior and
during the construction period, it might be necessary to imple-
ment drainage procedures or other methods to facilitate the
excavations of all cuts that are deeper than the depth of the
ground water. Drainage might also be necessary if the design of
individual retaining structures is not economically or techni-
ca11y feasible.
r 5. As a minimum corrective measure, it was recommended that
the set of five proposed mine entries be relocated to the east to
avoid the large surficial slide above our boring P1; we under-
Istand that ARCO Coal Company decided to relocate all entries 100
Meet to the east.
9
' I~~~ 6. As it will be necessary to design the mine portal cut at
~ i a limited height, the mine tunnels' sections adjoining the por-
tals will be driven in soils, with a low overburden; special
`~•`,;tunneling methods might be required within these sections.
r
1 ~
1 ~
I
1
~ 7. Any additional structures or facilities located within
the landslide areas will have to be designed so that they do not
decrease the stability of the area; special foundations may be
required.
