The report indicated that the <br />site has been inactive for the past year. Please refer to the Minerals Rules and <br />Regulations Sections 1.6.2 and 1.6.2(2)(a) which state that if an operation ceases <br />production fora period of 180 days or more, the operator must file a Notice of <br />Temporary Cessation with the Board. This notice must state the date of cessation, <br />the reasons for cessation, a plan for the resumption of mining, a description of <br />those activities the operator will ta{;e to ensure compliance with the permit <br />reclamation requirements and a description of site maintenance activities to ensure <br />compliance with the performance standards (Rule 61. The Notice of Temporary <br />Cessation should be sent to the Division separate from other correspondence. <br />As an alternative to temporary cessation, you may amend your Dermit to indicate <br />that the operation will be intermittently active throughout its life. The <br />amendment application must include a description of those activities the operator <br />will undertake to ensure compliance with the permit reclamation requirements, and <br />description of the site maintenance activities which will ensure compliance with <br />the performance standards fRule 6). Rule 1.6.2(2)(d) addresses this amendment. <br />Since the annual report indicated that operations have temporarily ceased, you <br />should submit either a request 'For temporary cessation or a permit amendment within <br />the next 45 days. If the request indicates that the site is sufficiently <br />stabilized, we will approve the request for cessation within sixty days. If the <br />request indicates that there may he some problems with the site, we will either <br />request more information from you, or schedule the site for an inspection.
