•

STATE OF COLORADO
Roy Romer, Governor
DEPARTMENT OFNATURALRESOURCES
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
FRED R. BANTA, Dlreetor
DATE: October 11, 1988
T0: Gregg Squire
FROM: Candy Thompson )
RE: Trapper Mine 1987 AHR, C-010-81
I have reviewed the following section of the Trapper 1987 Annual Hydrologic
Report. Comments are noted under these sections.
Post-Mining Topography
The Post-Mining Topography map showing regraded areas will be reviewed by the
Division during the Annual Report review each year. However, due to the small
area covered each year, overal] compliance.and performance of the yearly
regrade cannot be determined. Such a determination will be made by the
Division during bond release reviews and inspections. The yearly review will
be made to determine gross variations from the approved postallining topography.
Surface Water Data
The surface water sampling sites cannot be located on the Hydrologic Maps.
These sites need to be included on a map.
Drainageway Reconstruction
As the drainages were reconstructed in 1987, data is not yet available to
evaluate the success of the different methods and applications used. The
reporting process outlined in this section should provide data to evaluate the
drainages in the future.
Livestock Ponds
Several areas show a clustering of livestock ponds. These areas have been
xeroxed for reference. Area A has 4 ponds in 8 acres. Area B has 11 ponds in
30 acres. This concentration of ponds is not needed for livestock watering.
If Trapper wishes to use this concentration then same of the ponds will need
to be removed prior to bond release to lower the density of ponds.
CT/es
0738E
215 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203-2273 Tel.
