As a member of the attorney general's personal staff, I am responsible for coordinating, supervising, and in some cases personally handling the office's civil appeals. I am also responsi- ble for reviewing all attorney general's opinions before they are signed. Additionally, I am frequently assigned to special projects. For example, I recently helped the Governor s office negotiate an interstate compact on the disposal of low-level radioactive waste. From 1975 through 1978, I was a lawyer in the appellate section handling both civil and criminal appeals. In 1974, I was transferred to a trial litigation position and tfien promoted to chief of appeals. In this position, I supervised a staff of thirteen lawyers, monitored approximately 400 appeals a year, and coordinated positions within the office of the attorney general on legal issues which affected se- veral parts of the office. I was also responsible for monitoring at- torney general's opinions for legal accuracy. In 1980, I resigned my administrative position as chief of appeals and assumed a unique posi- tion within the office in which I was assigned to special projects in both trial and appellate courts. Since 1975, I have handled over 100 cases in the Colorado appel- late courts and the United States Court of Appeals in fields ranging fram securities fraud to natural zesources. Additionally, I have ar- gued one case in the United States Supreme Court. August 1973 - October 1975 Self-employed Deaver, Colorado Durin¢ this period of time I was in general practice.
