1999 FRE4UENCY/DENSITY DATA FOR 1998 RECLAMATION AREAS
LOCATION: Colowyo Coal Co., L.P. Meeker, CO
SAMPLER: L. VanAmburg and V. Williams
Frequency data was collected in early July for the 1998 reclamation areas. The
Frequency/Density method was used as the sampling technique to represent the
frequency of species present in the 1998 reclaimed areas. This sampling procedure
includes the random placement of a 60cm X 60cm square plot. After each placement,
the plant species present inside the plot was recorded (see attached data sheets).
Reclaimed areas were divided into Section 11 and Section 16. In each area 250
random placements were conducted for a total of 500 placements. Throughout each of
the two areas, the placements were then divided accordingly between acreage.
Data was collected and compiled onto a spreadsheet (see Tablet and 2). Each
table lists the top twenty most abundant species, number of hits out of 250, frequency,
and density. The frequency and density numbers were determined statistically based
on 250 random placements using apre-calculated frequency/density table at a 90%
confidence interval (CI).
