Golden Wonder Mine, Hinsdale County. <br />Golden Wonder Mine: CDPS Discharge Permit No. CO-0043877 <br />CDMG Mining Permit Number M-78-091 <br />Dear Mr. Abraham and Mr. Collins: <br />You had previously submitted a CDPS discharge permit application for the above referenced facility, to the Water <br />Quality Control Division (WQCD), Colorado Departrnen[ of Public Health and Environment, for the Golden <br />Wonder Mine which was received at the Division on September 15, 1994. This facility is located approximately <br />2.5 miles southeast of Lake City in Hinsdale County, Colorado. <br />The Division has reviewed your discharge permit application and at this point has prepared a draft discharge <br />permit for the Golden Wonder Mine facility, which should be going to public notice in the next few months. <br />However, before this permit goes to public notice, the Division has determined that you will need to demonstrate <br />compliance with certain permit limitations, which are based upon federal effluent guidelines and which will <br />become effective immediately upon the date of permit issuance. The Federal Guidelines that apply to this type <br />of facility aze from 40 CFR Part 440. I02 and 440.103 for the Copper, Lead, Zinc, Gold, Silver, and Molybdenum <br />Ores Subcategory of the Ore Mining and Dressing Point Source Category. These federal technology-based <br />effluent limitations represent the degree of reduction attainable by the application of the best practicable control <br />technology currently available (BPT), and the application of [he best available technology economically <br />achievable (BAT), respectively.
