• I. DIVISION OF MINERALS AND GEOLOGY WATER MONITORING PLAN SUMMARY
Requirement
Colowyo has committed to a surface and groundwater monitoring plan sufficient to verify the
predicted effects of mining activities. Specifically the plan addresses the following:
I) Monthly flow and quality analysis for Goodspring Creek and Taylor Creek; 2) quarterly
groundwater level and quality analysis in updip and downdip minesite wells and a downdip rail
loadout well. Results are submitted to the Division of Minerals and Geology in an Annual report.
Quarterly monitoring will, at a minimum, include chemical analysis of all parameters listed below:
SURFACE AND GROUNDWATER (guarterly1
Phosphate
Conductivity at 25° C
Total Dissolved Solids (TDS)
Total Suspended Solids (TSS)
Mercury
Arsenic
Iron
Ammonia
Nitrate (Wells only)
Calcium
Bicarbonate
• Magnesium
Selenium
Nitrate-Nitrite
pH
Lead
Manganese
Sodium
Sulfate
Zinc
surface water -total recoverable metals
groundwater -dissolved metals
Response
SURFACE WATER (monthly)
pH
eC
Temperature
TSS
Flow
Colowyo continues to adhere to the water monitoring plan. Additional details of this plan are
explained in the Permit, Volume 1, Page 4.05-10. Cumulative data and graphs for previous years as
well as data for 1997, are presented for this Annual Report in the following exhibits:
Exhibit I -Goodspring Creek and Taylor Creek Water Data.
Exhibit 4 - Gossard Well, North Goodspring Well and A-6 Wells.
u
